Key Implementation Dates

6th December 2004: Transposition of WEEE/RoHS regulations by Amendment to the Waste Act of 2001 defining producer responsibility for WEEE and implementing the RoHS directive. A government order will set recovery/recycling targets and a Ministerial order will cover marking, treatment and storage. Contributions to the recycling fund is covered by Ministerial Order No. 127/2004
31st December 2008: WEEE: recovery targets to be met following decision 2004/312/EC since no infrastructure is currently in place

WEEE/RoHS Directive

WEEE/RoHS: The WEEE/RoHS is being transposed by the following laws:

  • Amendment to the Waste Act of 2001.
  • A government order will set recovery/recycling targets.
  • Ministerial order will cover marking, treatment and storage.
  • Contributions to the recycling fund is covered by Ministerial Order No. 127/2004 - Slovkian


Key Differences from Other Member States

Register: The Ministry of Environment (http://www.enviro.gov.sk/ info@enviro.gov.sk)

Exo-tax: Product fee on EEE to pay for recycling. Exemption for companies belonging to compliance scheme.

Retailers: Take back will only mandatory if they are also producers.
