Key Implementation Dates

17th August 2004: Transposition of RoHS regulations No.723
19th February 2004: Main part of WEEE directive was transposed by the Law on Waste Management
31st December 2008: WEEE: recovery targets to be met following decision 2004/312/EC since no infrastructure is currently in place

WEEE/RoHS Directive

RoHS Regulations: Transposed by Cabinet of Ministers' regulations No.723, adopted 17 August 2004 - Latvian
WEEE Regulations: The WEEE is being transposed by the following laws:

  • Law on Waste Management,(Translate) as amended 19 February 2004 and 2 December 2004.
  • Amendment to the Natural Resource Tax Law, Draft.
  • Cabinet of Ministers regulations 624 - Latvian, 736 - Latvian, 923 - Latvian and Draft on National Register.
  • Revision of the National Waste Management Plan 2003 - 2012.


Key Differences from Other Member States

Register: The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Latvia (http://www.varam.gov.lv/).

Eco Tax: A tax will be placed on EEE, but the amount has not yet been agreed.
