16th December 2004: Parliament adopted the Act No. 7/2005 Sb amending the Waste Act No. 185/2001 and covers

12th Oct 2005: Producers must registered by this date

31st December 2008: WEEE: recovery targets to be met following decision 2004/312/EC since no infrastructure is currently in place

Key Differences from Other Member States
Scope:Includes defence, but new legislation to be passed will give some exemptions.

Register: Within 60 days of the Act’s entry into force (13 August 2005 for existing producers),

Separate Collection: 4 categories proposed (refrigerators, CRT, lighting, and others).

Compliance Schemes:RETELA, CECED, REMA

Recovery/Recycling Targets:Targets do not have to be met until 31st December 2008
