Kate Jones | Friday, January 11, 2002 - 12:17 am I am wondering if anyone out there knows or is interested in designing a toilet where the hand basin sits on top of the toilet and the water is then used to flush the toilet? I am told a version of this exists in Japan but only works with cold water. Any ideas or interested designers please let me know |
Karim O Nana | Tuesday, February 05, 2002 - 06:05 pm I saw an idea of using the water from the washing machine to flush the toilet in the magazine but I can't remember the name. That idea is not new and I heard about the used water for a gardening, too. One of my Professor at school connects the pipe from the hand basin set and lays it under his backyard lawn. |
Dawn Danby | Tuesday, October 08, 2002 - 06:26 pm Surely I'm too late to be of help, but you may be thinking of the Electrolux Essential Range Washing Machine concept covered in ID magazine's 2000 Design Review (pp 194). Designers Adam Szczepanowski and Jonathan Young, Stockholm. |
adam szczepanowski | Monday, June 02, 2003 - 10:05 pm surely im even later!! unfortunately Electrolux hasnt bitten on the idea of having the washine machine in the space above the toilet, although its a marvelous concept for those people with no *conventional* space for a washing machine in the bathroom (sure beats having it in the kitchen- does anyone know why the UK has it traditionally there??) and of course the imapact of water usage within the home. washing machines are generally though becoming more and more efficient, and using less water and energy during their cycle (if i remeber rightly around 40 litres) but of course that volume can flush the toilet a few times! generally it would be marvelous if every house had grey water system- but water prices need to be pushed up to make people think about that.. adam szczepanowski electrolux stockholm sweden |
