Why is there a significant cultural difference in 3S acceptance?

I think it is because American culture is so deeply saturated with commercialism that we have been programed against accepting these ideas. We have been so conditioned to accept a certain pre-packaged form- not to mention the sort of priveleged way of life in the U.S. and Americanized countries breeds a laziness, and a certain comfort level that does not recognize these different ways of designing environments, and objects. We also tend to have the ignorant presumptuous attitude that our ways of doing things are the best. Mainly I think it's the laziness factor
